Built for costuming as well as display, this piece was constructed to be lightweight as well as robust while still remaining as faithful as possible to the source material of the game. The finished shield weighs less than 3lbs.
The crackled paintjob on this piece was the result of a very unfortunate painting accident which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. After chemicals in the airbrush thinner reacted with the final clearcoat, the blue marbled areas of the shield were hand wet-sanded then buffed to a shine to the finish seen here. Despite being somewhat unintentional, the resulting effect is quite beautiful in person.
