Hope Greatsword, Monster Hunter Wilds
For the launch of Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom partnered with streamer and influencer iShowSpeed on a live stream marathon to beat the newest game in the MH franchise as quickly as possible. 14 hours later the job was done, but the week before this event we were crafting a full scale cosplay-style replica of the Hope Greatsword and weapon rack from the game for Speed to showcase during his stream. This paired with a full cosplay from the game, courtesy of our friends over at Jones Specialty Soft Goods
Made almost entirely from foam, the sword is designed to be durable but safe, perfect for a filming set environment and handling by on-screen talent. An aluminum core runs the length of the entire sword and into the tip, meaning it can easily be set down on the edge for posing without damage. The blade is nearly 7 feet tall fully assembled but only weighs 14lbs! Our weapon rack is built from hard coated foam, sculpted to match the aesthetics of the in-game item and painted with a matching finish to the sword.
With only 2 weeks for fabrication we had to work fast to fabricate the physical components. Capcom had also requested a reel-style video to showcase the work, which was shot and edited in-house and provided for use on launch day.
