League of Legends Vietnam Championship Series Trophy
Having designed two previous regional championship trophies for the League of Legends LCS and LLN in the past, we were contacted by Riot Games’ Vietnam team to design and create a trophy that would symbolize this new region’s emergence as a force in esports as well embody the spirit of Vietnam and speak to their audience. Several variations of designs were explored over a period of months before we landed on the shape seen here.
Brilliant 24k gold is used on all surfaces of the trophy, which sits at just over 2 feet in total height. Tall spires reach up from the VCS branding at the base to hold two instantly recognizable aspects of the Vietnamese region; its mountains and oceans. These two opposing textures reach toward one another from opposing sides of the design, forming a traditional trophy cup aesthetic. When viewed from directly in front, the negative spaces between the rocks and waves come together to form the outline of Vietnam!
The VCS team revealed their new trophy to their audience in a stunning video which was very well received by their local audience. This was a complex project scope and we’re very proud to have played a part in helping to establish the upcoming VCS League.
