Valorant Statcom Replicas
For the reveal of the agent Veto in Valorant during the 2025 VCT World Championships, we were tasked with creating an interactive component for an augmented reality event which gradually teased character details leading up to a final reveal. Replicas of the Valorant “Statcom” – a satellite phone used by agents in-game – were created with some unique features!
Eight total replicas were produced. Each one housed an internal battery as well as external USB power supply port. After booting up the device via a rear switch, a Valorant themed boot screen appeared along with in-game sound effects. Pressing the side button played a voice line from Veto, referencing the 2025 season trailer and the events of the in-game world from that year while showing his face obscured in shadow. Four different iterations of the voice line and accompanying artwork were programmed into these units, set in English, French, Chinese, and Japanese. Each Statcom was shipped in a sealed latex pouch which had to be torn open in order to access the device. Inside these pouches were more AR items; themed printouts that hinted at the character reveal to come.
